THE NEXT COHORT BEGINS – SEPTEMBER 2026

FOR TEACHERS WHO KNOW THERE’S MORE

You've done the trainings.

You've taken the workshops.

The full picture still isn't in focus.

You know the exercises.

What you want is to understand the system.

That’s exactly what Classical Progressions was built for.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

I know the exercises but I can't put the pieces together.

I completed my certification, and I can teach a solid session. But when a student plateaus or something isn’t working, I’m guessing. I want to understand why the orders are what they are – not just follow them.

Workshops are great — but the information is disjointed.

I leave every workshop inspired, and two weeks later, I can’t remember how it fits with everything else I already know. Nothing builds on anything. I need a structure that lets the learning actually stick.

Progressing students is a bit of a mystery.

I know how to teach what’s in front of me. What I don’t know is where I’m taking my students over time — or how to recognize when they’re ready for the next step. I’m moving forward without a map.

I want to bridge into Classical Pilates, but don't know where to start.

I’ve been curious about the classical work for a while. But every path I find feels like starting over – another full certification, another intensive. I want to go deeper without going back to the beginning.

I'm so frustrated.

I’ve invested real time and money in my education. I’ve done the training, the workshops, and the continuing education. And I still don’t have the clarity I was looking for. I’m starting to wonder if it’s even possible.

My own practice has taken a back seat.

When I was in training, I moved every day. Now I’m teaching six hours and going home exhausted. My body is the tool I teach from, and I’ve stopped maintaining it. That has to change.

It’s time to move from confusion to clarity and start teaching from a place of genuine authority.

THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED

At the end of my first lesson with Jay Grimes, he said to me, “Pilates is one exercise with five hundred variations. And do you know what that exercise is?”

I stared at him blankly. After years of teaching, it was something I felt I should have known but didn’t.

“The double leg-pull. It has everything. The breath, the strong center, and the two-way stretch. And you can find it in every exercise.”

The Reformer and Mat orders finally made sense. The system made sense. And everything changed.

I went back to the studio that day. I did every exercise on all the apparatus. It took me three hours, and I couldn’t move the next day.

Jay was right, and my mind was blown.

That was over 25 years ago. That one question – that one lesson – fundamentally changed my understanding of Pilates and the course of my entire career.

That’s when I finally started to understand that Pilates was more than a series of exercises.

I learned how everything was connected.

I could easily put together a great session on the fly and handle any student that came through the door because I understood the purpose of each and every exercise.

THE TEACHER YOU BECOME

Your teaching, transformed.

CONFIDENT

You can feel it in the room

You walk in, and you’re not running through a checklist in your head. You read the body in front of you, and you know what it needs. The second-guessing is gone. Not because you have all the answers, but because you trust the system you’re working from. That trust shows. Your students feel it too.

CAPABLE

With any student

You’re not working from a fixed program anymore. You look at the body in front of you, you understand what it’s telling you, and you build the session from there. Foundations, intermediate, advanced – you know the pathway, you know when a student is ready, and you know how to take them there.

CLEAR

On the system

The orders stop being rules you follow and start being a language you speak. You see why each exercise exists, what it’s preparing the body for, and where it sits in the larger arc. The full picture is in focus — and once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

EMBODIED

In the work

Your body has moved through the full classical repertoire. Not watched it, not studied it, you’ve done the work. Week after week for fifteen months. You leave with the work in your body. That’s yours now. It doesn’t fade when the program ends.

We have one enrollment per year.

Spots are limited to 12 students per section.

My teaching has shifted drastically because my understanding of the system is so much deeper. I’ve always thought of myself as a good teacher with a good eye but now my understanding of the body along with the Pilates system is deeply enriched with the lessons from Karen, that my passion has been reignited and I am not searching for ‘the next best thing’ to add to my ‘teacher’s tool box’. It is all right here!

FOR THE WORKING TEACHER

Built around your life.

You didn’t stumble into this work. You chose it, built it, and kept showing up for it — through the hard years, the uncertain years, and the years when continuing education had to come last because everything else came first.

Classical Progressions was built around the life you already have — because the teachers who need this work the most are the ones with the least room to spare.

NO TRAVEL REQUIRED

Your studio is your classroom

No travel. No borrowed equipment. No adjustment period.

You learn on your apparatus, in your space, with your own spring tensions and your own body. What you learn on Thursday, you teach on Friday – in the same room, on the same Reformer, with the same students. The transfer is immediate because the context never changes.

Every class is recorded with 24-month replay access. Classical Progressions draws teachers from Australia, Asia, Europe, South America, and across the United States. You work alone in your studio — but you are never alone in the work.

MODULAR STRUCTURE

Because life doesn’t pause for fifteen months

The program is structured in five independent modules. If something happens — a family emergency, a health issue, a studio crisis — you’re not forced to choose between the program and your life. Students in good standing may request a leave of absence between modules and return with the next cohort. We do everything we can to make sure that starting this program doesn’t mean risking it.

NO WEEKENDS

Your weekends are yours

Weekends are when working teachers catch up, rest, see their families, and run their businesses. We designed the schedule around that reality. What you learn in seminar, you apply that week — with your students, in your studio, before the next session. That’s not convenience. That’s how integration actually happens.

SMALL BY DESIGN

Personal attention. Real community.

Twelve students. That’s not an accident — it’s a decision we make every year, and we make it for you. Karen knows your name, your body, your students, and your progress. That quality of attention isn’t possible at scale — so we don’t scale.

And because the cohort stays together for fifteen months, these twelve teachers become a real community. Many of our graduates stay in each other’s lives long after the program ends. That’s not a feature we planned — it’s what happens when serious teachers do serious work together over time.

This program is outstanding in clearly demonstrating how Joseph Pilates’ method is a system. You will graduate with a clear understanding of how to confidently and safely use the system to make unmistakable, measurable progress in your personal practice and your students.

INVESTMENT

Fifteen months. Five modules. The complete system.

THE MATH, LAID OUT.

160+

hours of live instruction across fifteen months. Seminars, workouts, private sessions, and teaching reviews with Karen and the team. At full tuition, that’s just over $50 an hour.

That’s 100+ hours with Karen alone, plus a teaching team, a reference library, CEC credits, and a community that doesn’t end at graduation.

If you were to piece together the components of Classical Progressions individually, the cost would exceed $21,000. We’ve worked hard to make this accessible.

The entrance assessment fee of $250 is separate from the program tuition. Required texts approximately $150.

Participating in Classical Progressions has been one of the richest and most rewarding learning experiences of my life. No information or guidance is withheld. A true sense of being completely supported and encouraged to find the best version of ourselves as teachers and practitioners.
